very expensive boot camp/workshop. I have the PMBOK and I ahve the the
crossind serries manual and the PMP Prep Exm by Rita Mulchay. I have taken
the exam once but did not make although goingtot he exam, I felt I knew the

What is your learning style? What ever your style, learn the material that
way. PMI has a requirement for formal education in Program Management, so
you will need to find something meeting their requirements as well.

Personally, I learn by doing. So, I dig into real world problems.

As for "avoiding" a formal class, I took a series of three classes from one
of the online places and found it was very helpful --- and expensive.
Fortunately, my employer treats me very well and paid for it.

I believe there are some practice tests online somewhere, you may want to
try that.

Someone else I know didn't study much at all. He was pretty knowledgable
from the start so he just took the exam (after meeting the requirements of
course). He did fail but just took the exam again. He figured taking the
exam was just as good as going to a class, so if he failed he at least
learned something about the exam. He passed on the second try.

You may get some better information if you look to a local PMI chapter in
your area. You can get Chapter information from PMI.org. A local PMI
chapter would be a much better source of information than this site
(dedicated to MS Project, a scheduling application representing about 10% of
what you need to be a PMP).

Good luck, let us know what other help we can provide
