PMs Receiving Resource Pool Error/Warning Messages upon opening project schedules...

I am receiving notification from SEVERAL PMs (with See and Read access
to the Enterprise REsource Pool) that upon opening their project
schedules, they are receiving the message: "You do not have
permissions to see the data for all the enterprise resourses in the
project." The message goes on to say: "Data for these resources may
be out of date and incomplete. Contact your server administrator for
read access to these resources".

Please help...

Are the project managers in this case opening their own project, or opening
a project belonging to another PM? Are you using the RBS field for security
in Project Server to define which resources each PM is allowed to view?

We generally see this warning in an organization that uses the RBS field to
define which resources can be seen by each PM and in which a PM opens a
project created by another PM. In a scenario like this, PM#1 creates a
project and builds the project team using resources he/she can see in the
Build Team from Enterprise dialog. Later, PM#2 has permissions to open the
project, and opens the project, but does not have permissions to see the
resources in the project due to the RBS security settings. Does any of this
explain your situation? Let us know.

A quick way to verify that this is indeed a security/RBS issue is to add the
project managers group temporarily to the My Organization category which has
visibility into all resources (you should verify to make sure) and give them
the "See Enterprise Resource Data" category permission on My Organization.
Have them test to see if this gets rid of the message. If it does than you
need to re-visit your security model.
