PNG and transparency problems

I have not been able to resolve this problem and its making me insane... I
had inserted many PNG files of images with transparent backgrounds in my
PowerPoint presentation -they looked beautiful.

When I transfer the PPT file to another computer, those PNG images now
display with either black or white boxes around them. Does anyone know the
cause of this? What should I do? It is affecting dozens and dozens of
images.

Is the computer to which you transferred the presentation a Mac or does it
use an older version of PPT? Did you compress the PPT at any point?

I am using PCs. I am not sure what version my coworker had on his computer,
but in my case, I just had my hard drive replaced and have Office 2003
reloaded, same as before.

I'm sorry, I didn't answer the other question. No... nothing was compressed
to my knowledge. I just transferred my saved files onto the new hard drive.

Try playing with the hardware acceleration of the video card. And make sure,
there are no settings for handicapped people activated in the Operating
System (in German they are called "Eingabehilfen" and have the symbol of a
wheelchair).

I will try this. The strange thing is, this is an intermittent problem.
From what I can tell, images that started out as rasterized JPEG or tiff
photographs and turned into PNGs don't have the problem. It's PNG files that
were originally vector images (like logos) that were created in Illustrator,
then imported into Photoshop. They are now displaying as a color logo with a
black box around them instead of transparent background. Also, if I reinsert
the image as new it has the same black box problem.

If its the video card, or a setting, why is it happening to some images and
not others?

We tried this and it did work! Unfortunately, it doesn't help me with the
existing embedded images... but I am happy to say we did solve the problem.
Are you ready for this head-slapper? I had to download the Office
Servicepack 3 --fixed everything. Many thanks.

I am having the same issue u ran into in the powerpoint, that shows black boxes instead of the images, I am running Office2007, and I still have this issue, is it possible if you help how did u get it resolved, I really appreciate that.
