Png edge transparency when creating a pdf file

Hi

I have some pdfs with alpha transparency in a Word doc, when I convert the
word doc to a pdf all the anti aliasing is removed leaving the edges looking
jagged.

This happens with the adobe acrobat print driver and other free ones. This
problem does not happen when using OpenOffice or Google Docs, the
transparency is preserved fine there. Only Word seems to have this issue

Ive tried every setting I can think of, I believe the issue lies when Word
'prints' the document to the PDF driver.
