Poor Performance in a Single Plan

T

Ti Jefferson

Hi,

We are utilizing PWA 2002 and are experiencing
significant performance issues with a Single plan on our
server. This plan takes over 1 minute to simply update a
resource, and takes even longer to save the plan. We are
not experiencing this issue with any other plan on our
server (over 20). Can anyone provide any insight as to
why we would be experiencing this - and any suggestions
on how to correct it?

Thanks,
Ti

This could be related to corruption in the plan. You can try this therapy:

Backup your database
Save a copy of the plan to your hard disk in XML format
Remove the current copy from the server
Import the XML copy using Tools > Enterprise Options > Import project to
Enterprise
Republish the project and all task assignments choosing to overwrite actual
work in the timesheets.

Gary:

I followed similar steps and I wanted to know if what I did different is
significant.

I was to follow the steps for KB812639. However, instead of importing the
project to the server I selected " Save As". I then got the "Save to
Microsoft Project Server" window and saved it to the project server as a
published version.

I now have problems with the project I did this to... the web tables are not
updated with the actual hours from my resources. When using Project, I can
see the actual hours are properly updated. When I use PWA and view the
project in the web interface, I see the hours HAVE NOT BEEN updated.

Thanks in advance!

Gary:

I followed the steps you outlined and this time I imported the project
instead of saving it to Project Server. Task updates from resources properly
populate the MSP_WEB_<TableName> tables.

Thanks so much!
