pop account setup for free hotmail possible ?

hi,

using both entourage and apple mail, i found out that since recently apple mail will allow hotmail pop accounts being set up.

ingoing mail server: pop3.live.om
outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com

this is very usefull for getting hotmail to my iphones.

it seems ridiculous, but setting up a hotmail pop account is still not possible within entourage 2008. will we see it with a update soon or are there any settings i should use ?

In Entourage you do not set up a pop account, you select Account type -->
Windows Live Hotmail

is valid for hotmail PLUS only.

but i am talking here about a FREE hotmail account. since recently this can be used with apple mail, but still not with microsoft's own app entourage.

so will a updates be released addressing this problem ?

the interesting part is that this is also true for free hotmail when i use apple mail (and the mail app on my iphone). so what bothers me is that entourage 2008 stays behind.

Yes, because as stated on that link "Free Windows Live Hotmail accounts
cannot be set up in Entourage." Grandfathered Hotmail accounts can be
accessed by Entourage. It's been so many years since this change was made
I'm not sure what had to be done to get the grandfather status.

No. If you want a free account use Gmail. It works with Entourage.
