pop settings won't stay

I'm using XP Home with Outlook 2K.
When I set up my pop incoming (incoming.verizon.net)
it works. Next day the incoming says "localhost"
and my login has \incoming.verizon.net tacked on.
Then of course my pop does not work until I change it back.
Happens for all my pop accounts (not just verizon)

Or see if there's an update to you anti-virus program that addresses this
