POP UP & modal, but without Dialog-type border and position?

A subform, with a precise position, acts as a display platform for three
forms, which are opened by Command buttons on the form which holds the
subform. One of these three forms carries the 5000 Records. Occasionally
the user
wants to leave Records to briefly use (read, or edit) one of the other two
forms, and then return to the very same Record. If he returns using the
Command
button, he'll see Record #1 instead. All three forms have a header.

There must to be ways of using the Record's current record number to solve
this. But as a beginner I might not understand an explanation. Opening the
"brief visit" forms as Dialog boxes is fine, .
except they look messy - in the wrong place, and with a big blue
border. And of course a modal form needs a Close box somewhere ...

Perhaps it would be better to abandon the subform (I can't see why it's
there) and use the three forms independently?

Thanks for your attention, and for any suggestions.
