POP3: unable to use outgoing mail server (SMTP)

I cannot send Gmail through my Outlook 2003. I have no problem receiving
mail. I also have the same problem with another POP3 account from my school.
I am able to use Yahoo (also POP3) without any problem sending or receiving
mail via Outlook. I have all the current updates from Microsoft. My
anti-virus/firewall software is Norton Internet Security 2006. Please help!

The error message I get when Test Account Settings:
· Send Test email message: the specified server was found, but
there was no response from the server. Please verify that the port and SSL
information is correct. To access these settings and close this dialog, then
click on the Advanced tab.

The POP (995) and SMTP (25) settings were done according to Gmail's
instructions and the help board. The original SMTP setting of 465, also
produced the following error message:
· Find outgoing mail server (SMTP): Outlook could not connect to
the outgoing mail server (SMTP). The problem could be the server name or
port, or your server may not support SSL. Verify your port and SSL settings
in More Settings under the Advanced tab.
