Port 25 Block Problem

In July Bellsouth DSL blocked port 25. Since that time I
have had sporadic problems with time outs when
downloading messages and Outlook asking for the password
for a secondary account over and over. In other
words "sometimes it works and sometimes it don't." I
have followed their instructions for setup changes to the
accounts. Outlook 2003 seems to have a problem with port
25 being blocked. I also have tried Mozilla Thunderbird
which has no problems downloading messages or receiving
them. I hpe someone can help because I would like to
continue using Outlook, but will have to change to
Thunderbird if not resolved. I have Outlook 2003 on XP
Home Edition.

Thanks
Funzero

Port 25 is being used for sending items; not receiving them.

Do you have a virusscanner that integrates with Outlook to scan incoming and
outgoing e-mail? Disable that feature and see if it still happens.

All I know is that when Bellsouth started blocking 25 I
started having problems that I did not have before. I
have Trend Micro for virus protection.
