Portfolio Analyzer viewing of "Actual Work"

I am attempting to use the "Analyze resources in Portfolio
Analyzer" feature to view "actual work". The "actual
work" results I get using the Portfolio Analyzer do not
match what I have keyed in via the tasks page. For
example, on Feb 2nd the "actual work" on View my Tasks
shows 4 hours total; however, the Portfolio Analyzer shows
10 hours of "actual work" for that same day. On Feb 3rd,
View my Tasks shows 2 hours and Portfolio Anlyzer shows 8
hours. The Portfolio Analyzer is always showing more
hours of "actual work" than was keyed in on the tasks
timesheet page. Is there a reason that the Portfolio
Analyzer "actual work" would not match what was keyed in
via the timesheet on my tasks page?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

FYI, I have created a custom Portfolio Analyzer view to
view "actual work" for resources. I have selected myself
as the resource and the "actual work" for the timeframe I
am looking at does not match the totals for what I have
entered on the all my tasks. As I mentioned in the orginal
note, the portfolio analyzer view totals for actual work
is always greater than the totals from the timesheet
view. Any additional thoughts given this additional
information.

I only encountered ths problem when I "forgot" whether
what I was looking at was accross all projects or just
one. Unless you have added a filter, analyzer is showing
you actual work accross all projects including
administrative projects. Your specific task view is
showing you just actual work for that project.

One last suggestion: I also encountered a descrepancy between actual hours for resources in Project versus the actual hours resources viewed on their timesheets. It happened when they were updating their hours and somehow things got out of sync between what was on their timesheet records versus the resource actual work in the project. What fixed it was running Collaborate / Publish / Republish Assignments and checking the "Overwrite actual work entered by resources".

We have noticed similar behavior and determined the
difference to stem from using the Project Pro2002
client/server GUI to update hours on the Resource
Allocation or Resource Usage views rather than having the
resource enter them through the PWA. The results noted
were that the client views (non PWA) matched the
Portfolio Analyzer hours very closely (difference due to
time entered between OLAP runs) versus the PWA Resource
Assignment / Timesheets views which were considerably
off.
Hope this helps.
