Portrait orientation business card?

It was suggested by one of your MVPs that I try making my card in Publisher,
but having never even opened this program, I'm ... um ... freaking!

Here's what I wrote there http://tinyurl.com/2e5et8

I'm on Publisher now, and can't find a template for a vertical business
card, so I can't even get started. Help, please! and thank you!

File, page setup, business cards, change the width to 2" and the height to 3.5".
Change the page orientation to landscape, click change copies per sheet:

Top .75
side .5
zero gaps

WOW, Mary, you're FAST!!! Thanks!

Now, next question (and I owe you cookies!) ... I have my card made, and
when I print preview, it's all in grey-scale, but the clip art is in color.
What am I doing wrong??

a) Do you have a color printer?
b) Are you running Publisher 2007?

Hi Ed!

Publisher 2003. No color printer ... I plan to save to a flash drive and
visit Kinko's!
It just seems wrong that the Print Preview is in black & white ... can it
tell that I don't have a color printer?! Will it save to a flash drive in
color?

This is becoming SO darned hard!

Yes, it can tell you don't have a colour printer - it actually does its
level best to give you a preview of what will actually come out of your
printer.

If you save as a Publisher file to your flash drive, then it will come
out in colour at Kinko's (as they use a colour printer). If you save as
PDF, check the print preview after changing your printer driver to your
PDF printer to make sure that the preview is in colour.

Deep breath. Publisher isn't that difficult. Play with one of the business
card templates. Move stuff around, delete stuff, add stuff. Once you see how
easily you can design a card, you won't want a template. Your creativity
will soar and your cards will say a lot more about you than a generic
template designed by strangers who know nothing about the wonderful person
you are. ;-)
