Positioning Shapes

I am using Visio 2003 to create mechanical drawings. I am looking for tips
on the best way to precisely position shapes (lines, rectangles, etc) on the
page. Using the Size and Position dialog box is the best way I've found so
far. Sometimes, Visio refuses to move the shape to the exact position I
specify. Off by a few thousandths of an inch. Fine for the views, but the
dimensions I apply have to be edited to the value I need, which breaks the
associative link to the geometry.
I also would like to position shapes RELATIVE to other shapes, for example a
datum line. Any tips for that?

Thanks in advance,
Al

Size and Position is your best bet for such precision positioning. You can
enter constant values or expressions that Visio will evaluate (like 3.125 in
+ 0.625 in)
