Possible to default when opening an existing project to "Read-only

To reduce the chances of inadvertently changing an Active Project schedule
(which MS Project does very easily) would it be possible to default when
Opening an existing project to "Read-only to view" rather than the current
default of "Read/write to check out"...

If you are talking about the project manager who created the project, then
the answer is No. Because of the default security permissions in Project
Server, the manager of each project is granted Read/Write permission to open
every one of his/her own projects, and the system will open the project
Read/Write as a result. Therefore, you would need to make this a training
and performance issue with your project managers. At the bottom of the Open
from Microsoft Office Project Server dialog, there is an option called
Read-only to view. Teach them how to select this open if they want to play
"what if" with their project and not commit the changes. Hope this helps.
