Possible to "select all" ONLY for specific positions in org chart?

I'm linking my org chart shapes to a database, so I'd like to be able to
refresh/update them all at once if I've made many changes to the excel
database.

When I do the normal "select all" and try updating, it thinks I want to
update EVERY SHAPE on the drawing (connectors, etc) and it gives me an error
window for EVERY shape.

I know I can manually select just the org chart positions by CTRL+clicking
each one. But is there a better way I can do this?

Had the same problem with mine, point to Tools > Add Ons > Run Add On... >
Database Update. This should allow you to update any shape with a record
linked to it, rather than select each one individually.
