posting to group

B

bill gee

I am using http://www.microsoft.com/communities/

I posted a message to the group and the reply included a
request for the url of my site. There was also a request
to: Reply only to group - emails will be deleted unread.
{Though there is a link on the page [Reply Email]}
How can I provide further information if I reply to the
group (No one has ever responded when I Post Reply to a
reply. They seem to get buried.) Rules of conduct explain
that email is discouraged because of spam.

What am I to do if I can't Reply (E-mail)?
I use the communities a great deal and it also comes into
play when a suggestion doesn't work or only partially
works.

Bill -

That means that the poster does not wish anyone to send him/her
individual email to his/her private address.

most people are inundated with emails and a lot of spam from the ngs, that's why most of us won't
respond to direct email. I will if I recongnize the email, but otherwise I'll just bounce it.

you're best to post or reply to group that way everyone will benefit from the discourse.

Bill,

The Hotmail address I use with newsgroups such as this is valid, but has
been set up to trash any mails from senders not on a whitelist. This way I
get very little spam, and any responses made to the group are shared by
everyone using the group, thus you get help from many sources (and my errors
are corrected :) )

In my opinion the Microsoft Communities pages are difficult to use. I agree
it's hard to find anything on them, and can be difficult to see who is
replying to whom. As Thomas said, using Outlook Express (or another
Newsreader) is a far better way to utilise this (and other) groups.
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.frontpage.client
will open the group in Outlook Express.

If you must contact me directly (and I would prefer that newsgroup stuff is
confined to the group) you can use the form at
www.rxs-enterprises.com/rxsents/formmail.html

You need to expand the thread - usually has a "+" or "-" for expand/contract
threads, and yes depending on the discussion generated for each post, they can
get lost in the depth of it.

It is the decision of the user whether they want a reply by email - and usually
they would use a fake email address as you say, to prevent spam, or reduce it at
least.

Why do people want "private" replies to posts when a whole hoarde of people (the
group's members) can help out with their suggestions?

thanx so much.
You and thomas are right about OE and newsgroups. It's worlds away from
communities. Far better.
Please take a look at my compatibility post on 9/13 at 8:26am that you
answered. I am preparing a reply post richt now.
Thanx.

To users that has valid emails and are willing to accept email - you use
Reply.

But you must look at the email address before sending to remove the obvious
attempts to foil the email thieves...ie: REMOVE THIS, etc.
