power point 97 animations

how do you get a GIF image to work in power pt 97? i've inserted the clip
but i cant figure out how to make it animate. please help

In short, PowerPoint 97 doesn't support animated GIFs. They are only
supported in 2000 or above.

Animated GIFs are not supported in PowerPoint 97. You might want to convert
it to an AVI file.
