POWER POINT AND SAFARI CANNOUT BE USED BY 2 USERS ON MAC

P

PHindocha

I HAVE BEEN USING MICROSOFT OFFICE FOR OVER 8 MONTHS AND SUDDENLY THE
P.P PROGRAMME DOES NOT OPEN ON THE MAIN USER. ALL THE OTHER USERS ON
THE COMPUTER CAN USE IT.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE NEW IMAC I BOUGHT 2 WEEKS AGO. ON
THIS I AS THE MAIN USER CAN USE SAFARI AND LOG ON TO GOOGLE AND ALL
THE DIFFERENT SITES. BUT ONE OF THE USERS CANNOT LOG ON TO THE GOOGLE
SITE. WELL YOU CAN LOG ON TO GOOGLE BUT WHEN YOU TYPE A SEARCH ITEM,
IT QUITS. ALL THE OTHER SITES ARE OK AND CAN BE ACCESSED BY THIS USER.

CAN YOU PLEASE ADVISE

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

I'm sure someone will be happy to try, but frst things first :) In response
to > CAN YOU PLEASE ADVISE... First piece of advice: Turn OFF the Caps Lock.
Messages in all caps are difficult on the eyes, hard to decipher,
distracting, and considered "shouting" [i.e., rude].

Second, review the information on the following page pertaining to
"Netiquette" in particular, as well as the "This article" link in that
section:

http://word.mvps.org/Mac/AccessNewsgroups.html

Since you refer to 2 separate programs from 2 separate companies on 2
separate computers behaving in *opposite* fashions, it hardly qualifies as
"the same problem":)

The only suggestions I can offer at this time are:

1- Make sure that OS X is fully updated on each computer using the
appropriate Combo updater from the Apple web site... don't rely on what
comes through Software Update,

2- Run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions after *any* updates,

3- Fully update MS Office (whatever version you might be using)

If this doesn't remedy the situation, please post back with the necessary
info as detailed in the referenced articles & either I or someone else will
be glad to help you go from there.

I have similar thought - could someone somehow change the Unix
priviledges/permissions to access the program. So that someone has
changes the owner priviledges of PP or/and other adjacent files to
read-only or prohibited the access, so now the powerpoint cannot run?
