power point freezes

PowerPoint whenever I start to change a PP document. this
happens to all PPdocuments.
My system is XP prof. portuguese, recently I installed
office 2003 in english, installed all available upgrades.
(before the upgrades I couldn´t even open up the pp
documents)
I switched off Norton Antivirus, doesn´t work. I was not
able to convert it in HTML.

any idea what I could do??

Try using Help/Detect and Repair.
