power point slides don't behave as they should

In my slide presentation, some animation schemes are working fine and others
work as they see fit. One slide quickly skips to the next, and this slide is
not hidden. The faulty animation schemes are set just as the the ones that
work, upon a click. What's happening here?

This could be a couple of things, I think.

1. Check the slide transitions. What kind of settings are set there?

2. See if changing hardware acceleration helps.
