power point task is still active after automation close

I wrote a VB program to create a PP presentation. After the program
ends there is still a POWERPOINT.EXE task consuming about 50% CPU.

I verified closing and setting to NOTHING all the objects I've
allocated.

Any idea ?

Before setting to nothing, try

MyPPTapp.Quit

Could you post the code as well as the version of PowerPoint being used?

For good measure, also kill the powerpoint server exe
