powerpoint 2003 backwards compatability issues

Christen

Hello,
I have rolled out a beta (to a small group of users (5))
Office 2003 for beta testing in our enviroment. The
upgrade seems to have all sorts of nice features but we
have found one issue with the upgrade which is the
following:

Opening older versions of powerpoint presentations yeilds
error messages saying: "The file is empty" but when
opened on a system with Office 2000 or XP it opens with
out any issues.

Is there any known backwards compatability issues. Also
please note that it only happens on some of the files. We
are researching the differences between the files now if
we find any differences i will post that info as a
followup to this one... any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Christen Pacheco

Is there any known backwards compatability issues.

Yes, this is a bug. Last week I read that MS is working on it. Clearly, this
is supposed to work, and I'm sure it will as soon as they can fix it.

Christen,

this is a known problem occurring in PowerPoint 2003 AND the other Office
2003 programs. MS is working on a fix which should be published this week.

Search for the thread "Upgrade to Office 2003" posted here by "DeeDee" on
10.10.2003. You'll find an extensive reply and explanation by Sonia there.

Kind regards,
Ute
