PowerPoint 2003 (F5 does not start slide show) How do I start

I cannot get a slide show to run. The projector icon does not start the show
nor does the tool bar slide show view show.

Any suggestions?

Check out whether you are set to run the presentation on a second monitor.
This is set via the dialog initiated from Slide show--> Set up Show.
