Powerpoint 2003 installation error - log file

I am running XP Home edition. Have Office Basic 2003, and have separately
purchased Powerpoint 2003. Upon running the setup file, the windows
installer reports 'error opening installation log file. Verify that the
specified log file location exists and is writable'.

Can anyone help? Thanks.

Thanks for the help.

I am not running from a command line, simply trying to install on a home
computer from the setup.exe file on the disk (and I tried to copy the disk to
the C drive and run setup from there.)

It seems that most of the information on fixes are related to IT guys
installing over a server. I am having trouble exptrapolating the fixes to my
home computer.

Did you purchase the full version of PowerPoint 2003, or does the box or CD
mention "Upgrade"?

Yeah, the articles didn't seem terribly related to your situation, but I
thought I'd ask.

I think Sonia's probably onto something asking about the upgrade version,
though...

Thanks for the help.

It was not an upgrade version.

I got it to work by running setup from the command line and specifying that
it create its own log file with the \l function.

Thanks for the help
