I'm posting this for others who may encounter this problem - as I
spent a good deal of time last night trying to figure out why my spell
checker had simply "disappeared."
Grammar check worked, language was set correctly, all the correct
spell check options were set - still spell check refused to find fault
with "words" such as 'aslkj woerj'.
I even reloaded Word.
Finally I discovered, under Word options/Add Ins - spell check was
listed as "Disabled Item." I don't know how it got there, but
removing it solved the problem.
I hope this info may save someone with the same problem some time!
