powerpoint 97 memory error

When I try to insert a picture from file to a slide, I get
an error message that says I do not have enough memory to
perform this . Any ideas ? I had this happen a few weeks
ago after I had already designed about 20 slides, then on
the next one,I got the error and it has never worked
since, so I installed more RAM ( from 128 to 256 ) and I
completely reloaded windows ( ME ) and reinstalled office.
On my first slide........error.

please help,

How many fonts do you have installed on the system?
