powerpoint animation trouble

I just switched from ppt 2000 to 2003 and in old ppt you could make things
appear when you wanted them to, like in a bulleted list. Now in 2003 I assign
animations and the text shows up first and after I click then does animation.
I want the text to not show up at all until I call for it?

There are 4 (count them 4) ways to start animations in PowerPoint 2003.

1) With previous will start multiple animations at the same time.
2) After previous animation for sequential animations without multiple
starts
3) On Click
4) Triggers

These are set-up in the 'animations task pane' in the main editing window.
The whole user interface is very different than you are used to in 2000, but
was introduced in the version of PowerPoint between your old and new ones.
The task pane tools were first used in PowerPoint 2002 and not really
changed much in 2003.
