Powerpoint cannot read Jpeg attachments received via MS Outlook

I cannot open JPeg attachemnts received via email in MS outlook. Error
message received is that Powerpoint cannot read .jpg attachment

Right-click any jpg image, properties, opens with... change. Associate the jpg with
whatever image viewer you prefer.
