Powerpoint crashes after auto update

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Hi,
I installed office update yesterday and since then ppt and pptx crashes, can't open them and I have an error message. Excel, Word work fine.

I can't install powerpoint because my installation CD is in storage place. Is there any way to install it with product ID or fix the problem?
I am really pissed about this.

Re-Installing is probably not the solution.

First, run Disk Utility - Repair Disk Permissions then restart your Mac.

If that doesn't correct the problem reply here with specific details:

Exactly when does the crash occur -- what seems to trigger it? (On launch of
the program? On opening a file? While working? While saving? When closing?)

How are you attempting to open the files?

Is it actually a *crash* or is it a *hang*? - There is a difference.

Is the 'error message' an OS X message or a Microsoft error message? What is
the exact wording of the message?

Hi,

Well the problem occurred 2 days ago, just after installing Office update 12.2.3. I got a message that I needed to install Office update 12.2.3 and 12.2.4.

1) I installed 12.2.3 then I tried to install 12.2.4 and update didn't work I got an error message:

Office 2008 12.2.4 Update can't be installed on this disk. A version of the Software required to install this update was not found on this volume.

2) Since then I cannot open powerpoint since then. Word, Excel work fine. I just repaired Disk permissions and same problem. When I try to open pptx. It gives me this message:

MS Powerpoint cannot open because of a problem
Check with the developer to make sure MS powerpoint works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.
