Powerpoint Error Message Caused by Inserted Excel Object

S

Sam Griffin

I am working in Powerpoint with inserted Excel charts.
While one of the Excel charts was open (still in
Powerpoint) I received an "error occurred and this program
will close" message. Then the Excel chart grayed out on
the Powerpoint screen. Next, my error message from
Powerpoint is: "The presentation contains open inserted
objects that can't be closed automatically. Close the
objects and try again."

I have tried deleting the offending chart from the slide
and am not even allowed to go to other slides in the
presentation. Is there any option other than entirely
shutting my computer down and rebooting? I am afraid that
I will lose my work.

Which version of PPT are you using? If it's PPT 2002 or 2003, with any
luck the autorecover will kick in, and you won't lose your work.
