powerpoint freezes computer when playing mpeg movies in a presenta

For some reason, my computer freezes up about every third time I play a
slideshow when it gets to a movie I have inserted. I am doing a big
presentation soon and hate the crap shoot. Any suggestions? I have it in
custom animation to "start after previous"

I made a big slide show and had to divide it up in parts so the memory could
handle it. I hyperlinked the parts together. I've decided on no more than
100 slides in a section, but if there was a movie, it might need to be much
smaller because that would take up a lot of memory. Even so, I could only
show it all once and then needed to restart the computer and clear the memory.
