Do you have Windows Search installed? (Little magnifying glass icon in the
task bar)
This caused me a world of woes when inserting images, especially from the
desktop. After uninstalling it, these problems went away.
If you do not have this installed, post back with your PowerPoint and
Operating system version so we can help you track this all down.
