PowerPoint hanging

J

John Paul Jones

I use PowerPoint for a cable channel Community Bulletin Board. Can someone
tell me why the program runs for a day or two and then simply hangs?
Sometimes it goes for a whole week, and sometimes for one or two days. How
can I work around this rather distressing "feature" of PowerPoint?

Ahoy,

PowerPoint behaves as though there is a slow memory leak that fills the
stack and causes the computer to hang every so often. How long it will take
to lock up seems to depend on your system resources. I do not know if
anyone has tracked down any causes that make it better or worse (i.e., if
you don't use this type of object it will take longer), but this problem has
been around for many versions. While all this info may be fascinating and
all, I suppose you are mostly interested in a solution.

Set the computer to automatically close PowerPoint, reboot, and restart the
presentation every 3:27 AM (your best time may vary)
