Powerpoint predefined times alarm?

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to modify the PowerPoint
presentation timer so that instead of going to the next slide after the
time is finished it would only show a small sign or figure or whatever
to indicate that the time for the slide has ended.

I would be great also if someone knows of a way to put the time in the
slides (and make it update during the presentation of course). I looked
in the internet but there are no free options... unfortunately I am
only a poor student =oP.

Simple enough to do. Take a look at this sample to see if it works for you,

You could place a picture on the screen and set its animation to appear after
however much time you want to have passed. This might not work for
presentations with lots of animations, as the timing will probably be a bit
tricky, but for a simple show it will work.
