PowerPoint presentation configurator

Is there any way I can hold a central repository of slides and then use a
configurator to pull pre-assigned slides from the central data base of slides
to form severyal versions of the same set of slide? The reason is that I have
about 50 presentations using many of the same slides. When I have to make a
change to a slide, I have to change it 50 times. If I had a central
repository, I would then only have to change one slide.

There are several commercial products that allow you to do something like this.

A google search on terms like: slide presentation library powerpoint
should turn up a few (look at the ads on the right as well)

SlideWhere is one that comes to mind. Google that as well.
