Powerpoint program persistently open upon starting computer...

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I am using Powerpoint 2008: version 12.2.3. I close the program by using drop-down command "Quit Powerpoint." Despite this, each time I power on my mac Powerpoint is open. Is there any way to correct this?

You have the program set to launch automatically on login.
Control/Right-Click the PPT icon in the Dock to deselect the option in the
contextual menu.
