powerpoint setup? windows nt

Suzie Q 713

I once had powerpoint and excel and how to figure out personal finances (I
don't remember what that program was called). I think one of my kids deleted
these programs. I believe they were in windows 2000. I am using windows nt.
Help!

Suzie Q 713,
You would need to reinstall these from your Office cd (PowerPoint & Excel)
they are not part of Windows. Personal finance would possibly be Money, you
would also need to reinstall from that cd. If these products came
pre-installed when you purchased your machine you would need to use the cd(s)
that were included with your pc.

Thanks Chris. I have cds for Office 2000, which have powerpoint and excel,
but when I try to install them, they ask for the cert. of authen., which I
have, I think that's what I have, but I keep getting invalid cd key value.
What am I doing wrong? I'm wondering if each cd has its own code, but if I
don't have the original holders for these cds, am I out of luck?

Suzie Q 713,
You would need the product key, something like:
123ab-45cde-x6y7z-hg98i-ppxxz a 25 digit code not the cert of authenticity.
You can try these 2 utilities to find the product key on your machine:
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
They may work for your version of Office.

Chris, apparently, the discs are from an earlier computer I had. I now have
dell windows xp home edition. I have 3 teenagers in the house and no
original cdrom. Among other things, I wanted to get my fax up and running
and use my powerpoint. Am I out of luck?

Suzi Q 713,
If your Office version came pre-installed on your old computer, yes. If your
version is just an upgrade (not full version), yes. If you bought your
version (full version) at retail (best buy, etc...) then just install on new
with your product key code. If you have trouble activating over the internet
just use the 800#.
