PowerPoint slide master ActiveX controls

I am trying to put a toggle command button on a template in the slide
master in PowerPoint. The ActiveX works well if I put it outside of
the slide master, but if I place it inside, though it shows when I
view the show, it isn't active. Any suggestions?
