PowerPoint slide show does not open properly

Processor: Power PC

I recently updated PowerPoint to version 12.1.5

After the update when I launch a slide show, it does not work. The window reformats so that only the window title bar shows at the top (i.e., all the buttons and tool bars are no longer present), but the menu bar is still visible and I can see the desktop. The "slide show" is thus not full screen at all!

Moreover, I can not advance the slide by any means other than by using the scroll bar on the right. The "slides" are essentially one long document.

How can I correct this rather annoying behavior?

General considerations first: Have you Repaired Disk Permissions & restarted
since updating? What is your exact update level of OS X?

I really can't tell from your description what the specific problem is - Are
you having the problem when you run the Slide Show or when you *open* the
file? If the latter, have you tried File> Open rather than dbl-clicking the
file icon? What is the file name extension... Is it .pptx or something other
than that? Have you tried clicking the oblong button at the right end of the
window's title bar to display the Toolbars?
