PowerPoint slow starting up "Running virus scan"

I've just installed Office 2003, but find that the
startup of powerpoint is very slow. I think it says its
doing "Running virus scan".

Any suggestions on making it faster?

This is actually a feature of Norton Antivirus and it can be disabled. Here
