Powerpoint slowing down

Rene

Hi experts,

I'm observing strange behavior of my PPT 2000.

1 - It's taking a verly long time for PPT to start, like 20 seconds....
much longer than any other office application.

2 - embedded videos (AVIs) also take a very long time to start playing,
regardless of their size.

Does anybody have a hint as to what is happening?

Thanks!

First suggestion, do a little hard drive house keeping. Delete all the temp
files laying around and then defrag the hard rive.

Hi experts,

regarding the issue of slow start of PPT, I'm baffeled.... there's
plenty room on the harddisks (more than 1 GB), so that can't really be
it.

Regarding the slow start of the AVIs... I've narrowed the problem down:

If AVIs are compressed with DivX 5.2.1 it takes VERY long for them to
start. However, if the same files are compressed with Cinepack codec,
they start immeadiately even though the files are much larger. Strangly
enough, if I view the DivX files in the Media Player, they also start
right away.

So... there seems to be a problem of PPT 2000 runing my DivX movies.

Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks for all your help!

Lots of free space really means little if it's not kept organized. Did you
try defragging the hard drive as suggested?
