PowerPoint sound

I am the owner of a Mac G4, with OS X v.10.3.9. I am using PowerPoint
v.X for Mac purchased in 2002. Whenever I get a PowerPoint slide
presentation (sent to me by e-mail), I cannot reproduce the sound;
every presentation is "silent".
Any suggestions to solve this problem?
