powerpoint table edit changes the table size

iI created a Powerpoint document using an OCR, thus I'm not sure about how a
table is produced. It seems to be a powerpoint table. When I attempt to
change a word in the table, it doubles the table size and appears to be in a
table edit mode. I cannot find out how to return the table to its original
size. CAn one of you Powerpoint guru's help me?
