Hi can anyone help?
I need to create a template with the first slide being the title slide
(graphics full page) and subsequent slides only with a banner. I have tried
using the master slide option however I only get the banner page (the title
slide doesn't show up, although it is visible throught the master view)

You need to set the layout for your Title slide to "Title Slide".
