PPT 2008 doesn't support VBA, which would be required to run add-ins.
2004 does, 2011 should when it's released.
For now, no go.

2011 *will* support add-ins when it is released later this year. Yea!

Absolutely!
The new version will come with a ribbon-style toolbar and will keep the
traditional menus, too. Real-time collaboration will be available. And
there are some really neat PowerPoint features I can't talk about.
