PowerPoint won't open

When I try to open powerpoint it looks like it is open but
minimized. I cannot get it to maximize or come to the
foreground

How are you opening PPT? That is, by choosing it from Start, Programs or
doubleclicking a file or ...? If by doubleclicking a file, what type of
file is it?
