PP 2007 Stop PlaceHolder from Resizing

G

Gennady

In PP2007 when I paste a picture from the clipboard into a placeholder, the
placeholder resizes to the size of the picture. Which messes up my layout.
How do I stop this from happening. I did not have this problem in PP2003.
Please help. This is the only reason I have not completely made the switch.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the answer. But No, because I have a macro that runs and
automatically snapshots and pastes into PP. I did get an answerfrom another
user and it partially worked. I setup a picture placeholder. But now the
right side of the picture is being cut off. All I want is for the picture to
fit into the placeholder even distorted. Still need help.

If your picture is a different proportion than the placeholder, then
something's gonna get cropped out. That's what happens when you try to fit a
square peg into a round hole -- the corners get trimmed.

You can right-click the placeholder after you've inserted the image and
choose Format Shape. Then click Fill and Picture or Texture Fill. Tile
Picture as Texture will be selected, and the scale should be set to 100% x
100%. You can try making that smaller, adjusting the offsets, or even
changing the alignment to tweak the positioning within the placeholder.

I guess my confusion is why it worked the way I described in PP 2003 and has
stopped in PP 2007.

Is there a keyboard shortcut for the picture fill? That actually works.

It's because the content placeholders work differently in PPT 2007 and they
added the picture placeholders that actually give you more options in the
long run. The upshot is, it was by design.

I don't know any shortcuts to fill the placeholder with a picture.

You can insert the picture once then insert it again, then select the
first one
and delete it. That'll leave you with a picture that's not in the
placeholder,
plus the original placeholder.

Does that do what you need?
