pps and ppt

Hi,
Until several weeks ago everything was fine. I have a Vista Home basi
64 bit and use Office 2003. Recently all the power poinr shows I a
geting by mail as well as the saved ones (which have the suffix pp
)open as ppt
It is not a big thing but anoying. Can you
1 Explain
2. Help

..pps is a PowerPoint show - basically just for a viewer. They will both in
PowerPoint.

Are you having trouble with them or just curious about the difference?

I know what is pps and ppt. But a pps (power point show ) should ope
as a show not as ppt. Generally this is not important, I have only t
klick and I get the show. But why should in my coputer the file have th
suffic pps and open as ppt. Anyway it was not so not long ago, al
worked all right

Usually this is a sign that your computer's file associations are messed
up ... file associations are the bits in the registry that tell Windows
which programs it should use to open various file types.

Try using Help, Detect & Repair from within PowerPoint.
