PPS Files not opening

My .PPS files will not open any more when they are clicked. I get a message
saying.
"The file is not a valid Win32 Application "
They were opening up fine up until recently, I changed the association and
pointed them
towards PP 97. I never had this problem before...Suggestions appreciated...

The file is not a valid Win32 Application "
This can indicate that it's an EXE file.... and it's not all there. Some of
the file is missing

Thanks very much Glen...I checked your link and was able to fix my problem,
see below.

In the interest of other people reading this, I thought I'd add a bit
more...
In the page that the link produces, there are three possible fixes.
The first one using " Re-registering" Powerpoint didn't work...
The next step, right clicking and choosing program to open with,
also didn't work...
The third fix did work,
Editing the Open action for the file association directly...

Thanks guys, you've came thru again ...

PS. I mistakenly posted this in an earlier post about file types. This is
where it should be.
