PPT 07 nightmare

Hello, thanks for taking the time to read about my problem. I'm
hoping I can get a solution here.
I created hundreds of presentations in '03 PPT on a Dell d630 with 2g
ram, intel core duo 2.20ghz, xp sp3.

My employer replaced those laptops with new ones- Dell E6410, core duo
i5 2,4ghz, 3 G ram. It has Office 07 already on it and I was thinking
the problem would be with learning the new menus and interface of ppt
07. Boy was I wrong.

In my presentations I use lots of audio files, some WAV and some Mp3-
many of those didn't copy well from 03 to 07 and I had to repair
them. Hyperlinks no longer worked properly, file paths were broken,
timing of slide transitions and text effects askew, etc. All of these
things I have been able to fix on my own.

My problem that won't go away is with one presentation in particular
where there are stationary picture files surrounded by an animated gif
border (blinking lights graphic) the whole while a song is playing
through slide transitions while text boxes fade in and out. There is
a lot going on in this presentation but it wasn't too much that my old
(less powerful) laptop couldn't handle it seemlessly. Now, the text
boxes fade in and out really choppy and slow and they used to come in
nice and smoothly. I tested to see if it was the blinking lights gif
border and so I removed it and the show worked fine. Problem is, I
want the blinking lights gif border.

I tried adjusting the graphics acceleration, installed the test
printer, increased virtual memory, and I always use the optimum
performance settings in XP - nothing has worked. Does anyone know how
I can solve my problem but keep my gif in the presentation?

Thanks
JS

Can you go back to the original files on a machine with '03, install the
compatibility pack that allows '03 to save as the XML format?
For example go back to a machine with '03, open one of your troublesome
PPTs, and save it as a PPTX.
See what that does.

You said PowerPoint 2007, which means I'm assuming you're on a Windows
machine - just FYI you posted this in the Mac group. :)
You might have more luck in microsoft.public.powerpoint
